Australia, 20 August 2025 – CareSync Exchange powered by dbMotion is transforming health information sharing in Victoria. It securely delivers complete, timely, and accurate health information; complements existing systems by enabling the view and trending of discrete patient data; and enables seamless access to disparate patient records through local electronic medical records systems. CareSync Exchange supports connected care journeys for Victorians by ensuring secure sharing of clinical information across Victorian Public Health Services (VPHS).
Improving Healthcare through Effective Information Sharing
CareSync Exchange tackles the challenge of fragmented patient information by integrating health data from multiple systems, giving clinicians access to critical and accurate information for better decision-making. A vital part of Victoria’s Digital Health Roadmap, it enhances continuity of care by ensuring health information is accessible across providers.
Key Features and Benefits of CareSync Exchange
CareSync Exchange will significantly reduce the burden on patients to recall their medical history during interactions with multiple public health service providers. The system enables a patient’s treating clinician to access comprehensive clinical information, including:
- Patient details, such as demographics and emergency contacts.
- Inpatient, Emergency, and Outpatient hospital visits.
- Pathology results that can be compared and trended.
- Clinical documents including pathology reports and hospital discharge summaries.
Streamlined access supports a seamless patient experience, reduces duplicate tests, and fosters an integrated healthcare system to improve safety and outcomes.
Current Practices and the Need for Change
Traditionally, clinicians in the Victorian public health services relied on faxes, phone calls, emails, and even patients or their families to share medical histories—often leading to gaps, inefficiencies, and time taken away from direct patient care. CareSync Exchange helps overcome these challenges by providing real-time, comprehensive patient data, enabling clinicians to make more informed decisions and deliver higher-quality care.
Enhancing Patient and Clinician Experience
Todd Haebich, Executive Vice President of Altera Digital Health, APAC, emphasised the importance of accurate information at the point of care, stating, “Complete and accurate information at the point of care is essential to providing patients with the best possible clinical care. The project delivery teams at Altera and the Department are actively working with health services to implement CareSync Exchange powered by dbMotion across the state, and we are very proud that the first group of participating health services includes Austin Health, Eastern Health, Northern Health, Alfred Health, Monash Health, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, and The Royal Women’s Hospital.
CareSync Exchange will improve the way health information is shared across Victoria, improving patient experience and enhancing clinicians’ ability to provide timely and safer care.”

Fully integrated solution is the only to combine multimodal inputs into structured, codified data for downstream use
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — August 14, 2025 — Altera Digital Health, a global health IT leader, today announced the launch of TouchWorks Note+, an ambient listening and note generation solution designed to help independent providers reduce documentation burdens, save time, improve data accuracy and enhance interactions with patients. Fully integrated with TouchWorks® EHR, the new solution is the latest milestone in Altera’s broader investment in artificial intelligence (AI) development and electronic health record (EHR) workflow modernization.
TouchWorks Note+ is the only solution that combines and converts provider inputs from ambient listening, voice dictation, text entry and pre-set macros into native, structured, codified data for clinical use and billing. It captures ambient listening from a desktop and, in supported deployments, from a mobile device. The AI securely records natural conversations during clinical encounters from the background, allowing providers to focus fully on the patient and build stronger rapport. After the visit, the solution generates a complete, editable note draft for the provider to easily review before finalizing.
The deep integration between TouchWorks Note+ and TouchWorks EHR removes the burden on providers to manage separate login credentials, copy/paste information or repeat data entry. This helps standardize documentation across visits, enabling more efficient charting and more accurate, consistent coding so practices can better rely on the data for downstream use. Additionally, due to the solution’s proprietary AI coordination platform, Altera can leverage the most comprehensive current and future large language models (LLMs) to enable accurate, efficient data processing across different specialties and modalities.
“As a practicing physician, I know firsthand the toll documentation can take on clinical time and cognitive load. TouchWorks Note+ reimagines the provider experience, allowing providers to stay present with patients while the technology works behind the scenes,” said Dr. Jeanne Armstrong, Chief Medical Officer for TouchWorks EHR, Altera Digital Health. “It’s not just about documentation efficiency. It’s about restoring the human connection between provider and patient.”
TouchWorks Note+ is the first step in a series of AI developments enabling clinicians to spend more time with patients and less time on technology. Learn more about how TouchWorks Note+ supports the human side of healthcare here.
TouchWorks Note+ leverages Medicomp’s Quippe Clinical Intelligence Engine, which uses a variety of technologies including LLMs and natural language processing (NLP) to convert dictated text, typed text and text derived from conversational AI into structured data.

Intelligent faxing solution to save time while reducing errors and manual work
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — July 22, 2025 — Altera Digital Health, a global health IT leader, today announced the launch of Sunrise™ Health Record, an intelligent faxing solution designed to reduce manual faxing inefficiencies and errors and support health information management (HIM) deficiency management. Sunrise Health Record is fully integrated with the Sunrise™ electronic health record (EHR) platform and is now generally available to hospitals and health systems leveraging Sunrise 25.1.
Faxing remains pervasive in healthcare due to interoperability barriers and misconceptions about the privacy and security of internet-based data exchange. However, traditional faxing often forces users to switch between systems and rework documents, introducing time-consuming, manual tasks and data integrity risks that threaten patient safety and regulatory compliance. To address these challenges and support critical communication, Sunrise Health Record offers a modern, intuitive user interface and capabilities including:
- Faxing embedded in HIM deficiency management: HIM staff can quickly send deficiency notices directly within the Sunrise deficiency management workflow, without saving or exporting files.
- Configurable inbound fax queues: Inbound faxes are automatically routed to the right department, user or workflow based on customizable rules to reduce manual sorting and prevent misfiled faxes.
- Single-click outbound faxing: Users can send faxes within Sunrise without the need to download, rename or reupload files.
- Real-time audit trails and delivery tracking: Users have full visibility into the sender, the documents sent and if the delivery was successful.
“By embedding these capabilities directly into Sunrise, we’re helping hospitals reduce delays, cut down on manual effort and drive better outcomes across core operational workflows,” said Jay Adams, Executive Vice President and Group Leader for Sunrise, Altera Digital Health. “Faxing may still be part of healthcare, but the frustration doesn’t have to be. Hospitals need health IT solutions that not only offer efficiency but also enable their teams to put time and attention where they’re most needed.”

It’s a real game-changer.”
MedAllies, designated as a QHIN within the TEFCA framework in late 2023, serves as a crucial bridge in the nation’s health information exchange infrastructure. QHINs facilitate secure, standardized data exchange between disparate health networks, creating a unified framework for healthcare interoperability that transcends traditional organizational and technological boundaries. Altera’s partnership with MedAllies positions the company directly in the midst of the industry’s evolution toward true nationwide interoperability as it executes on its commitment to adopt innovative solutions that enhance care coordination and support the delivery of higher quality patient outcomes.
“QHINs are poised to play an essential role in ushering in a new era of improved interoperability across the healthcare system, resulting in enhanced collaboration for providers and higher-quality care for patients,” said John Blair, MD, CEO, MedAllies. “We are proud to work with Altera to enable providers to more efficiently and effectively share critical patient information to improve the nation’s health and reduce provider burden.”
