Clinicians deserve better
If you ask a clinician why they pursued healthcare as a profession, it is unlikely they’ll respond with, “to stare a computer screen and type.” Of course, documentation is a necessary part of the job, but it truly only is one part. Clinicians entered healthcare to care for patients. To be healers. To be trusted. To help. Excessive documentation contributes to burnout and reduced patient-facing time. It adds to disruption in care and can result in staff turnover. At Altera, we see how this can affect patient care so we set out to provide technology that helps put the clinician back in front of patients, to listen and to treat.
The value Altera delivers
Across 17 Sunrise client sites, we measured the total elapsed time from note creation through final review and signature across all contributors to the documentation workflow. With Sunrise’s help, these clients reported a median hours-per-note decrease from 5.6 hours to 3.4 hours. That’s a 39% reduction.
But it means much more: on top of completing critical documentation more quickly, it also empowers clinicians to be patient-centered and focused on care.
